BOXED DRY CARD COMPASS. A mid 19th Century ( Circa 1860s) British boxed dry card compass by Gerrard, Liverpool. The card shows the 32 points of a compass and the north point has the lion and unicorn emblem with a banner showing GERRARD, to the south the card is marked LIVERPOOL it also has degrees marked on the outside of the card. The bowl and gimbal are constructed from brass and mounted in the original pine box with sliding lid. Diameter of compass 5 (12.5 cm) and the box is 8 (20 cm) square |
